Grant Announcement: High School Career Connect

Greater Texas Foundation announces a grant in the amount of $1,627,826 to the University of North Texas in support of the new High School Career Connect (HSCC) program.

HSCC is a career development and education service for middle school, high school and college students throughout Denton County. HSCC will improve postsecondary access, persistence and success by providing career education and planning guidance to 1,500 Denton County students. At the core of HSCC is peer-to-peer mentorship. College Student Mentors will serve in this peer-driven model, providing critical career education services to middle school and high school participants following extensive semi-annual training from UNT Career Center employees.

HSCC will propel college enrollment, retention and timely graduation. Additional anticipated results include raised levels of career path confidence, more college freshmen with a declared major, fewer changes in majors, decreased student loan debt, and the dissemination of a program model for replication at other institutions.
