Grant Announcement: Improving Higher Education Outcomes of Foster Youth in Texas

Texas State University will study higher education outcomes for foster youth in Texas with a $72,740 grant from Greater Texas Foundation to evaluate existing programs for foster youth across the state. The first phase of the study will explore the extent to which two- and four-year public colleges and universities in Texas provide support to foster care alumni (FCA). The second phase will examine whether campus support efforts contribute to improvements in higher education outcomes. This research will inform higher education administrators and legislators about the adequacy of campus supports for FCA and will identify best– practices for improving higher education outcomes of youth formerly in foster care.
