GTF Scholars

Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) Scholars was established to increase the number of Texas Early College High School (ECHS) graduates who successfully transition to a four-year institution of higher education and complete a baccalaureate degree. The program is the first of its kind in Texas.

Beginning in the fall of 2012, approximately $3.32 million was awarded to five four-year institutions over a six-year period. Participating institutions committed to creating a comprehensive program that included evidence-based financial and non-financial retention components. The statewide program impacted more than 500 students over six years.

In fall 2017, the foundation renewed and expanded the GTF Scholars program, awarding grants totaling nearly $7 million to eight institutions. More than 1,000 ECHS graduates are expected to benefit over an eight-year period.
