GTF Vision

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are at a unique point in time at Greater Texas Foundation. As we embark on strategic planning for the next five years, we have the opportunity to reflect back not only on 2018 but also on the foundation’s work over the previous five years. In doing so, we cannot overstate how proud we are to work with such an amazing group of partners and friends. It is particularly humbling to have the privilege to provide financial support to grantees who are all passionately focused on student outcomes.

As we undergo strategic planning, it is also an appropriate time to reflect on all we have learned about our current issue areas: rural students, the transition from high school to college, transfer, and mathematics. In this report, you will find grants featured under each of these four issue areas. We hope you enjoy learning about the great work of our partners at Roscoe Collegiate ISD, Jobs for the Future, The University of Texas at Austin, and The University of Texas at Tyler.

You will also find interviews with three GTF Scholars, graduates of Texas early college high schools, who are working toward their bachelor’s degrees. Although much of the foundation’s work is focused on addressing student success by looking critically and constructively at programs, institutions, and systems, we greatly value the opportunity to work closely with our partnering institutions of higher education to provide support student-by-student through the GTF Scholars program.

It is difficult to capture the breadth of what all our partners, both formal and informal, are doing to advance student success. Thank you for the opportunity to share a snapshot through our annual report, and thank you for allowing us to partner with you. We look forward to continuing to support Texas students to achieve their postsecondary goals.

Sincerely,
Sue McMillin
