Grant Announcement: JFF Will Expand Work with Texas Opportunity Youth with Continued Support from Greater Texas Foundation

Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) announced a $1,211,540 grant to JFF to strengthen dropout recovery schools and programs across Texas. In 2018, GTF funding allowed JFF to introduce its evidence-based Back on Track to College model to five dropout recovery schools and programs to ensure their students not only graduate college-ready but also transition smoothly to postsecondary education and training. Based on the success of this first year, JFF will assist a second cohort of schools and programs in implementing the model while extending support for the first cohort to ensure continued success.

“Greater Texas Foundation is proud to build on this strong partnership with JFF to better serve Texas students,” said Sue McMillin, President and CEO of the foundation. “Participating sites have already made significant progress in preparing students for education beyond high school, and we look forward to seeing this work grow.”

“We are thrilled to partner with Greater Texas Foundation to expand to an additional cohort of schools and programs. Young people who have fallen off-track deserve nothing less than support to succeed in postsecondary education – and the Texas economy will benefit as well.”

Current participants in the program include American YouthWorks in Austin, Fort Worth CAN Academy – Westcreek, La Joya ISD College and Career Center, Restore Education in San Antonio, and Goodwill Excel Center in Austin. More sites will be added in early 2020.
